Senate Leader Phil Berger Proposes 12-Month Property Tax Revaluation Moratorium
Senate leader Phil Berger sent out a press release on Friday, February 27, announcing his intention to propose legislation placing a 12-month moratorium on property tax revaluation changes. The statement indicated he plans to file a bill in April during the legislature’s short session to prevent any property tax revaluation changes from taking effect while the legislature is examining property tax reform ideas. This press release follows the formation of a 10-member Senate working group to study property tax reform. Meeting dates have yet to be announced for the Senate working group.
The NCACC is actively engaging with legislators to educate members on the importance of property tax revenues in delivering services to each county, and we will continue to monitor any new developments.
