Wake County, N.C. – Today, on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) joins the nation in honoring the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers who work tirelessly to protect and serve their communities. As a retired North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper, Tare “T.” Davis, the current NCACC President and Warren County Commissioner, understands firsthand the challenges and rewards of a career in law enforcement.

President Davis’ experiences continue to shape his leadership at NCACC, especially through his presidential initiative, Heroic Hands: Celebrating Public Service. This initiative highlights the value of careers in public service, with a particular focus on building a stronger pipeline of future public service employees. Davis is committed to working with state leaders and partners to ensure that local governments have the trained workforce they need to thrive.

“Law enforcement officers make countless sacrifices in their service to others,” said President Davis. “Today, we pause to thank them for their dedication and commitment to safety, and to remember that the work they do is essential to the well-being of our communities. My experience as a trooper continues to guide my work in public service, where I strive to foster the same values of safety, integrity, and service.”

Under his leadership, NCACC continues to prioritize safety, responsibility, and community collaboration — values that are deeply rooted in his background in law enforcement. For additional information about the Heroic Hands presidential initiative, click here
