Description

Performs responsible professional and administrative work developing, coordinating, and implementing countywide litter prevention, enforcement, and education programs; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant County Manager or designee. An employee in this class is responsible for managing Pasquotank County’s litter prevention and public education efforts. The position requires extensive public interaction, program coordination, and collaboration with local governments, schools, state agencies, Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office, and community organizations.

Example of Duties

  - Develops, implements, and evaluates the County’s Litter Prevention Program.
 - Coordinates with NCDOT programs such as Adopt-A-Highway and other state litter initiatives as needed.
 - Conducts public education and outreach in schools, including Pasquotank County Schools and other area schools.
 - Organizes community cleanup events and manages volunteer participation.
 - Develops partnerships with municipalities, nonprofits, and local businesses.
 - Prepares educational and promotional materials using print, digital, and social media platforms.
 - Tracks program metrics and prepares reports for County management and grant compliance.
 - Identifies, prepares, and administers grant applications related to litter prevention.
 - Responds to citizen concerns regarding litter and illegal dumping.
 - Coordinates with Public Works, Planning, and the Sheriff’s Office on enforcement and remediation efforts. 
 - Assists with staff and volunteer training.
 - Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment for cleanup events.
 - Supports enforcement awareness of North Carolina litter laws.
 - Performs related duties as assigned.
 - Knowledge of solid waste management and litter prevention practices.
 - Knowledge of public education and outreach methods.
 - Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
 - Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and events.
 - Skill in the use of standard office software and social media tools
 

 

Salary

$50,087.00 - $70,613.00 Annually

Qualifications

Typical Qualifications

 - Associate’s degree in environmental science, public administration, communications, education, or related field and two (2) years of related experience; or
 - Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or
 - Equivalent combination of education and experience.
 - Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
 - Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
