Counties across North Carolina and throughout the nation are working on the Stepping Up Initiative - diverting people with mental illnesses from the prison system so that they can access the care that they need. Representatives from over 40 North Carolina counties held a Stepping Up Summit on May 9, 2017 to jumpstart their efforts through education and networking.
