The Town Of Tryon (pop. 1,562), Located in Polk County, North Carolina is seeking a strong and experienced leader for the position of Town Manager. Tryon is nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge Escarpment in the Thermal Belt region of western North Carolina. Tryon is located only four miles west of Interstate Highway 26 (Exit 67) on US Highway 176/NC Highway 108. Although a small community with an abundance of rural character, Tryon is within easy driving distance of many major population centers – Spartanburg, South Carolina (30 miles), Greenville, South Carolina (31 miles), Asheville, North Carolina (45 miles) and Charlotte, North Carolina (88 miles).

Tryon is home to a beautiful and historic downtown district that provides a backdrop for full-time residents, seasonal tourists, and second homes. The unique makeup of the population has created a vibrant downtown home to many community-supported events including an international film festival, a popular beer festival, year-round art-crawls, and multiple downtown strolls celebrating different holidays. Tryon’s services include police, fire, water, sewer, streets, parks, sanitation, planning, tourism, and economic development.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business management, or related field and supervisory experience at a management level, preferably in the public sector; A Master’s Degree is preferred.
