Town of Robersonville (population 1,392) located in Martin County, NC is seeking a qualified, motivated leader for the position of Town Manager. Town Manager is responsible for the overall management of Town's services and implementing Town Council policies and strategic direction. Since October 6, 2020 Robersonville has been under the financial control of the Local Government Commission, per G.S. 159-181(c). The Town is working towards completing goals noted in their fiscal accountability agreement.
Robersonville on is U.S. Hwy. 64, nineteen (19) miles north of the City of Greenville, home to East Carolina University and Vidant Medical Center. Robersonville is well-positioned between Raleigh, 1-1/2 hours to the west and the Coast, 2 hours to the east.
The Town Manager is the chief administrator, managing the day-to-day operations of four departments, three utility departments and twenty employees, with a total town operating budget of $5.6 million for FY2023. Robersonville is a public power community, a member of the North Carolina Eastern Municipal Power Agency and Electricities. The town has a council-manager form of government with a Mayor and five-member Council, all elected every four years. Candidates must be effective leaders with the ability to work productively under the policy guidance of the Town Council and NC § 160A-148. Powers and duties of manager. Candidates must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, the ability to present multiple options for consideration including presenting a clear and professional recommendation for a course of action. A proven track record of forging partnerships with private and government entities to accomplish community goals, motivate and manage department heads to work as a team to accomplish organizational goals and positively represent the Town to its citizens is required. Responsibilities include annual budget development, strategic planning, economic development, operational plans, long-term capital plans, managing capital construction plans on time, within budget & compliance with applicable Uniform Guidance.
Salary hiring range is $72,000 to $78,000, negotiable depending on qualifications. Town Manager must reside in town limits within six months of hiring. Town offers excellent benefits: Health Insurance, LGERS pension.
