The Tax Administrator is appointed and reappointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve as tax assessor
and tax collector. The position directs the operations and activities of Davie County’s comprehensive tax
program, which includes the divisions of Appraisal, Collections, Listing and Land Records. The ideal
candidate is a proactive and engaged problem solver with team building skills. The individual will embrace
the County’s core values and lead by example, setting goals and objectives and holding staff accountable,
while fostering employees’ professional and personal growth. This leader will possess strong management,
analytical and communication skills. He/she will be tasked with effectively and efficiently obtaining,
developing, analyzing and maintaining the records necessary for the taxes associated with real and personal
property within the jurisdiction of the County and municipalities according to the State of North Carolina
Reporting to the County Manager’s office for daily operation, the incumbent will be administering a budget
of over $900,000 with 11 budgeted position of which 5 report directly to the Tax Administrator. Duties
include: assigning and monitoring work; coordinating the evaluation of real and personal property to ensure
the assessments and standards are correctly made and uniformly applied; collecting real, personal and room
occupancy taxes, for all municipalities and special districts within the County; developing and mandating
public notices and actions by the Board of County Commissioners; presenting tax issues to County officials;
enforcing the department’s policies; responding to requests for information from staff and the public; and
preparing and managing the department’s budget.
In accordance with state law and by authority of Davie County Board of Commissioners, the Davie County
Tax Office conducts a county-wide revaluation every four years. This process involves re-assessing more
than 24,000 parcels of real estate that are located in Davie County. Davie County’s next property revaluation
takes effect January 2025.
Minimum salary of $65195 (starting rate will depend upon qualifications)

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Accounting and 5 years of tax administration, appraisal, or
related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate must have
thorough knowledge of the NC Machinery Act and county tax policies as applicable to tax listing, assessment,
and collection of real and personal property taxes. The successful candidate must have the ability to be
bondable and must be able to obtain certification as North Carolina Tax Assessor and Collector by the North
Carolina Department of Revenue within 2 years of employment. This position requires residency in Davie
County within 6 months of employment. Valid Driver’s License and good driving record required. Criminal
background check and pre-employment drug screening.
