Performs intermediate inspections of building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and fire codes within the County.
An employee in this class under direction, assigns, reviews and participates in the operations and activities of assigned staff within code enforcement, which may include general code enforcement, or enforcement of specialized areas; oversees and participates in the investigation and initiation of procedures to abate violations and obtain compliance; serves as a resource and provides information on local and state regulations to property owners, residents, businesses, the general public, and other divisions; ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Inspections Director.
$47,075 - $60,020 annually
Required Education and Experience
Graduation from high school supplemented by course work in building construction trades, Level III certification in all five certification areas (Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing and Fire) and considerable experience in building codes enforcement or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Will consider Level II certifications depending upon experience, but must obtain all five Level III certifications within two years of date of hire.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
