POSITION # 491009  POSITION NAME: PLANNING / ZONING ADMINISTRATOR DEPARTMENT: CENTRAL PERMITTING  Hiring Salary Range: $52,249 - $78,373  Pay Grade: 73 Work Schedule/Requirements: Generally Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, occasional meetings.  Primary job function and duties: This position performs professional planning and zoning work in the area of enforcement and administrative responsibilities for the County’s development ordinances including: Zoning, subdivision, floodplain development, and watershed protection.  Employee must demonstrate ability to apply knowledge involving the research and analysis of planning concepts, solutions, policies, and the resolution of technical and difficult issues and problems.  Employee provides support to Governing and Advisory Boards, including Board of County Commissioners, Planning Board, Board of Adjustment and Watershed. Performs other duties as assigned.  

Supervised by: Director of Central Permitting 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (planning, geography, public administration, etc.) or Bachelor’s degree in unrelated field with direct experience of some combination of experience. 
  • Valid Driver’s License. 
  • Communication: Able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the general public, co-workers, and supervisor.  
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and ensure deadlines are met.  
  • Physical Requirements: Able to sit for extended periods of time, viewing a computer monitor/using keyboard and mouse, walk, stand, bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 lbs on a regular basis ( occasionally moving larger items that may weigh up to 35 lbs.) 
  • Considerable knowledge of ARC as well as office software and technology applications to the administrative environment including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing. 
  • Ability to operate office machines such as computer, copier, Fax, and scanner. 
  • Ability to record information, balance figures, and arrange/place records, reports and files into proper sequence. 
  • Ability to collect and interpret data. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Master’s Degree in related field 
  • AICP 
  • Experience in county, urban or regional planning or equivalent combination of training and experience.  

 

 

Salary

$52,249 - $78,373 annually
