The ideal candidate will be responsible for the management and administration of all aspects of the Greenwood County/City Planning Department including planning, development review and land development.
He/she will develop and monitor the departmental budget as well as supervise, plan, and direct the activities of professional and clerical personnel to ensure the proper implementation of department objectives and procedures.
The Planning Director will formulate long-range goals for the organization, develop policy and position papers and work with the County Manager and/or elected officials as needed.
The Planning Director prepares materials and presentation of topics for Greenwood County Council and the City of Greenwood Council which includes review, discussion, and implementation.
He/she also directs long range planning projects based on need and priority at different levels and for various communities.
Additional responsibilities include reviewing applications and notifications, providing counsel, preparing, and disseminating technical reports to the Board of Zoning Appeals.
The Planning Director works under limited supervision reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in City and Regional Planning or in a related field (business, public administration, landscape architecture, law).
- Requires five years of progressive planning experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- AICP Certification preferred
- Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license
