The County of Surry is accepting applications for the position of GIS SPECIALIST. This position provides technical support in administering Surry County’s GIS applications and software. Develops and maintains geographic data through various methods. Applies the cartographic techniques, principles, and standards employed by the GIS division to all GIS projects. Provides technical support for GIS related projects and distributes data as requested in the form of images, plots, and tabular output of digital data. Other related work will be performed as required. Work is performed in accordance with laws and established policies and is under the supervision of the Land Records Coordinator.
SALARY RANGE: GRADE 67 $35,652 - $59,376
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in geography, computer science, or a related GIS field or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Considerable knowledge in using ESRI software (ArcGIS, ArcCatalog, ArcGIS Pro). Thorough knowledge of GIS concepts. Good knowledge of programming languages Python, Visual Basic, and SQL. General knowledge of procedures, laws, maps, and records used in real estate mapping. Experience with Microsoft office products.
Satisfactory completion of IOG Fundamentals of Listing and Assessing and NCPMA Certification will be required.
