Watauga County Emergency Services Department is accepting applications for the position of Fire Marshal/EM Coordinator. Position ensures compliance with the fire code through periodic inspections of non-residential buildings; provides technical assistance to emergency response agencies; coordinates emergency services during emergencies; investigates cause and origin of fires; maintains records and files; prepares reports. Position alternates on-call status with the Assistant Fire Marshal/EM Coordinator. County benefit package includes health insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave. Salary Grade 11, $52,025
Knowledge of emergency management methods, practices and techniques, familiarity with fire code is required. Graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in public safety, public administration or a related field and extensive fire inspection and investigation experience is preferred.
Possession of standard Level III Fire Inspector Certificate Required. Certified Arson Investigator or equal experience preferred.
