Description

Town of Wadesboro (pop. 5000) located 50 miles southeast of Charlotte on Hwy 74 is seeking a Finance Officer. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of fund accounting, budgeting, and financial control. Responsible for disbursement and accounting of municipal funds, fixed assets, cash management, investments, risk management, accounts payable and receivable, utility billing, grants administration, general ledger maintenance, annual audit customer service, and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. The town operates as a council manager form of government with a current budget of $10 million and a substantial capital program funded primarily by grants. The Finance Department currently has a team of 4 full-time employees. Requires a four-year college or university with a degree in accounting or business and considerable experience in public finance administration including some supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer a finance officer certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 36 months of hire date and/or CPA. Proficiency in the use of Excel.
