Description

Directs and administers the Emergency Medical Services Program for Burke County. The work includes responsibilities for the selection of equipment and vehicles and for assuring that EMS personnel are properly trained in emergency medical care services. The work is done under the general supervision of the Burke County Deputy County Manager/Finance Director by review of records, reports, board meetings, and the overall effectiveness of the Emergency Medical Services Program. Salary

Starting Salary Range: $64,426 - $80,533

Qualifications

Graduation from a two-year college with a degree in emergency medical services or related field and five years of progressively responsible emergency services experience including management and supervisory experience; or completion of high school or equivalency and seven (7+) years of progressively responsible emergency services experience including management and supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer candidate with a four-year or two-year degree in emergency medical services or related field, or current coursework in a four-year or two-year emergency medical services or related program. Special Requirements

• Certification by the North Carolina Medical Examiners Board as an Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic. • Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license. • Obtain Office of EMS Level I Instructor certification within first year of appointment. • Level II NC EMS Instructor-Coordinator certification pursuit is expected, and certification is expected as soon as possible. Please refer to Title 21, Sub Chapter 32H, Section .0501 of the North Carolina Administrative Code for specific certification requirements.
