Mid-Carolina Regional Council seeks a highly motivated, innovation-driven leader to serve as the Council’s Director of Workforce and Talent Development.
With offices in Fayetteville, Mid-Carolina Regional Council is a voluntary coalition of local governments and functions as a multi-county planning, development, and human services organization. The Council reaches across county and municipal borders to provide technical assistance to our local governments and to administer programs that benefit our region’s citizens. The Council’s mission is to provide creative regional solutions to relevant and emerging issues in Cumberland, Harnett, and Sampson Counties, North Carolina while providing a standard of excellence in the delivery of federal, state, and regional services for our communities.
The Director of Workforce and Talent Development is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and directing the Council’s employment and workforce training services consistent with the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, North Carolina workforce program guidelines, and local workforce priorities and policies.
Salary will be competitive and based on experience. An excellent benefits package will be provided.
The Director must be a dynamic, take-charge leader with excellent communication skills, sound management abilities, and a cooperative attitude. The Director must be able to function within a rigid bureaucratic system while at the same time have the ability to develop and successfully implement innovative services that improve the lives of job seekers, exceed the expectations of employers, and increase the economic competitiveness of the region and the state.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have programmatic management experience. Executive leadership experience is preferred.
- Hold at least a four-year degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Have a solid background in relationship building and cooperative action.
- Be able to effectively engage internal and external customers in a positive and proactive manner.
- Have the skills to effectively lead staff and manage human capital.
- Have experience with developing, managing, and growing program budgets.
- Be able to effectively communicate and cooperate with elected officials, appointed officials, community leaders, employers, staff members, regional partners, and citizens.
