The Deputy Tax Administrator, under limited supervision, performs administrative and supervisory work in planning, organizing and directing effective and comprehensive appraisal, collection, and assessment programs for the County. Work involves ensuring the completeness and accuracy of all ad valorem tax records in Union County.   Employee is responsible for assisting subordinate staff in communicating tax information and for participating in the preparation and maintenance of a variety of records and reports. Manages and provides strategic direction for assigned work groups. Helps resolve taxpayer complaints and issues in a timely and effective manner. Facilitates communication and coordination between assigned divisions and other county departments.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, GIS, Public Administration, Real Estate, Data Analytics, or related field and seven (7) years of experience in Business Management, Tax Office Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

Licenses or Certifications:


Possession of Appraiser Level I, II, or III certification issued by the North Carolina Department of Revenue, or the ability to obtain the Level I within two years of employment; or RES, AAS, or CAE designation issued by IAAO

Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to maintain a safe driving history as defined by the Union County Vehicle Use Policy.
