County Attorney
Description
Warren County seeks a talented and experienced Attorney to serve as general counsel for a 5 member County Commission and advisor to County departments. The County Attorney can serve as either a contract employee or full-time employee and in either case appointed by the County Commission. Scope of the position includes contracts, labor and employment law, land use, real estate, environmental law, constitutional law, ordinances and codes and intergovernmental agreements. J.D. from and ABA accredited law school is required. Must be licensed in North Carolina on date of appointment. Comprehensive experience in local government law, chief counsel or high level responsibility in a comparable public setting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with facilitation the legislative process, parliamentary procedures, open meetings and open records. Skills in intergovernmental and interpersonal relations, as well as, proven record of giving sound, reasoned advice. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Grade 38 - Min - $77,054; Mid - $$98,244; Max - $119,434
Qualifications
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law and at least five years of progressively responsible professional legal experience. Preference will be given to local government experience.
Special Requirements
Possession of a valid license to practice law in the State of North Carolina and a valid driver's license.
