Description
Performs skilled technical work in securing compliance with state building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, energy, and other related codes and local ordinances.
FLSA Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
Hiring Salary Range: $48,713.60 - $60,902.40, depending on qualifications
Full Salary Range: $48,713.60 - $73,091.20
Note: Applicants who meet the minimum education and experience requirements, possess a valid N.C. driver's license and have an acceptable driving record, and possess Level I standard certifications in the building, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical trades will be considered for Building Inspector Trainee. The rate of pay for Building Inspector Trainee is $21.08/hour.

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED, supplemented by courses in building construction (an associate's degree in a related construction field is preferred); and A minimum of 2 years of building inspection experience OR High school diploma or GED, supplemented by courses in building construction (an associate's degree in a related construction field is preferred); and A minimum of 5 years experience in the construction industry
Special Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Minimum Level II probationary or standard certifications in building, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical trades required. (Level III standard certifications are preferred) Level III standard certifications required in building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical within 3 years of hire or as determined by the Chief Building Inspector.
