Description

The Town of La Grange, NC is seeking an Assistant Town Manager to assist the Town Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the Town, overseeing multiple large capital projects, and focusing on planning and zoning. The ideal candidate will be an analytical and collaborative problem solver, a strategic thinker with a record of success, and someone who thrives in a high-expectation leadership team. They should possess the ability to partner across all levels to achieve success while embodying the town values of dedication, integrity, courtesy, and innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Town Manager in overseeing planning and zoning functions for coordinated growth and development.
  • Direct comprehensive plan reviews, zoning/site plan reviews, and environmental assessments.
  • Provide professional support to Town Boards/Committees, participating in meetings and hearings.
  • Enforce ordinances, manage violations, and provide guidance on land use matters.
  • Supervise department staff, manage budgets, and maintain planning documents.
  • Collaborate across town departments, subcontractors, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Assist in managing water, sewer, and electrical systems capital projects.
  • Coordinate and evaluate operations and projects of various town departments, supervising staff.
  • Plan, organize, develop, and implement municipal operations, budgets, policies, and special projects in collaboration with the Town Manager and department heads.
  • Focus on capital project management, policy development, program implementation, and research efforts.
  • Provide guidance to Town of La Grange employees, conduct fiscal studies, and ensure adherence to confidentiality protocols.

 

Salary

Salary and Benefits:

  • Anticipated salary range: $85,000-$118,000, depending on qualifications.
  • Benefits include local government retirement, insurance (health, dental, & life), 4-day work week, paid vacation, and sick leave.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Completion of a master's degree in public administration, business, or related area preferred.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible administrative experience in public sector management preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license required.
