Assistant Finance Director
Description
The City of Mount Airy is a seeking motivated self-starter join our Finance Department as an Assistant Finance Director. This candidate will assists a veteran Finance Director in planning, organizing and administering the Finance Department. This position directs the accounting and collections functions including the maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, grant funds, cash management and utility billing and collection. This positions provides significant financial support in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets and the City Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) preparation. Work is performed in accordance with established City finance procedures, local ordinances, North Carolina General Statutes and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements governing the responsibilities of local government fiscal operations. Interested applicants should have a high measure of financial expertise, experience with municipality/governmental finance preferred, and must meet the minimum qualifications outlined below. Starting salary for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 and is commensurate based on experience.
Qualifications Include:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field and considerable experience in financial administration, accounting, cash management, investments and grant administration including supervisory experience. CPA certification is preferred.

Salary
