Description

 

Wayne County is looking for an exceptional candidate for Assistant County Manager.

This person will perform administrative and supervisory work in the management and long-range planning of Wayne County government and will perform the duties of the County Manager during his/her absence in all areas of County Administration. Work involves extensive contact with officials, department heads, Commissioners, and the public. Strong, forward-thinking leadership abilities, as well as independent judgment, initiative, tact, and courtesy, are required. Provides direct supervision for various County departments as assigned by the County Manager. Completes assignments as directed by the County Manager and reports to the County Manager.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works to continually improve County services through visioning. Strategic planning, execution, and program evaluation
  • Represents the County’s interest in working with a broad range of stakeholders to resolve often complex and sensitive issues
  • Directs and coordinates interdepartmental projects and activities as needed
  • Independent and self-directed initiative, with the capacity to learn new things and the appetite to take on new challenges over time
  • Maintains community visibility through active participation on boards and Committees impactful to the Wayne County government
  • Assist with the development and review of the County budget

Salary

Commensurate with experience

Qualifications

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum: Bachelors in public administration, business, or related fields
  • Preferred: Masters in public administration, business, or related fields.
  • Experience in public sector management work involving: planning, administrative, and budgetary responsibilities -or- Equivalent combination of education and experience
