Assistant County Manager

Reporting directly to the County Manager, the Assistant County Manager acts under general direction and is responsible for the oversight and coordination of the assigned departments to meet County strategic goals. This position advises the County Manager, Board of Commissioners, and the County’s Management Team regarding all operational related initiatives, policies, and programs.  The Assistant County Manager manages assigned major projects and interdepartmental priorities. The Assistant County Manager assesses policies, programs and provides solutions for improved performance in the County’s operations.  The position is one of two Assistant County Managers in the organization.  The position provides oversight, support, and long-range planning for the following departments: Elections, Emergency Services, Information Technology, Public Library, Veteran’s Services, Fleet, and Facilities. 

The Assistant County Manager is not required to live within County limits.  The starting salary range is $95,375 to $126,372 with a competitive benefits package. The salary is negotiable and will commensurate based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.

To qualify for this position, the successful candidate should possess a Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related discipline. A Master’s Degree in Public Administration or a closely related field is preferred. Candidates should also possess seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in an administrative and managerial capacity within a local government. Additional education may offset the experience time frame.
