Description
The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) is seeking an Accountant. The ideal candidate will provide financial management and support related to accounts payable, grants, and contracts. The accountant works with and supports the Budget Director and Finance team ensuring the appropriate use and accurate reporting of all financial transactions of the Association, including its grants and contracts. This position will be based in Raleigh with the option to occasionally work remotely.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform accounts payable management for the Association and its grants including obtaining documentation, calculating and entering transactions, processing invoices and verifying financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records.
- Review, reconcile, and pay the Association’s bills in a timely fashion, and with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Resolve accounting and reporting issues as necessary; prepare monthly budget v. actual status reports; identify issues, concerns and problems and communicate with Budget Director and Finance Team.
- Coordinate with Budget Director and NCACC Foundation Team to ensure transactions are properly recorded and agree to any applicable grant/contract agreement. Ensure sub-recipient/subcontract financial activities adhere to deliverable deadlines.
- Assist the Budget Director with the budgeting process and detail for the Association. Set up budgets in accounting software and monitor budget activity.
- Manage contractor agreements and ensure terms and conditions of agreements are met and properly documented and communicated.
- Learn and understand specific grant requirements; ensure compliance on contract conditions and assurances; ensure reporting requirements are met. Support NCACC staff as necessary in delivering grant requirements.
- Perform accounts payable management for NCACC Risk Management Pools including obtaining documentation, calculating and posting transactions, processing invoices and verifying financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary
Anticipated hiring range for the position is $59,000 - $63,000.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 1-3 years’ experience in accounting, bookkeeping or similar.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Â
- General knowledge of GAAP accounting and budgeting principles, rules and regulations.
- General knowledge of accounting terminology, methods, procedures and equipment.
- General knowledge of principles and procedures of financial recordkeeping and reporting.
- Ability to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to prepare complete and accurate reports from various accounting data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and accounting software.
- Proficiency in using relevant software and websites for accounting and grant administration
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
- Collaborative and team-oriented and passionate about serving North Carolina.
Miscellaneous
This role will be based at the NCACC office in Raleigh with the option to occasionally work remotely. Typical work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
