The NC Association of County Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for a position of Underwriter for the NCACC’s Risk Management Pools. This position will perform intermediate professional work for an assigned region of county governments and affiliated organizations in North Carolina. Responsibilities include processing Risk Pool underwriting applications, determining amounts of covering, evaluating possible losses, analyzing the impact of contribution and pricing exposures, preparing renewals and issuing new member coverage documents, and related work as assigned.
Candidate should have a general knowledge of preparing and issuing evidence of coverage binders and related documents; knowledge of workers’ compensation, property, casualty, automobile and general liability insurance; proficiency in Microsoft Office products; the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writer; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; and, the ability to work in a hybrid remote/in-office environment.
Position requires a bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of five years of commercial underwriting experience. Public sector experience preferred.
