 a Association of County Commissioners\, in partnership with North Carolina
  Emergency Management (NCEM)\, has refreshed its 100 Counties Prepared tra
 ining series and invites you to register for one of three identical in-per
 son regional training sessions taking place this spring in the Piedmont\, 
 eastern\, and western regions of the state.\n\nWhile the course is designe
 d primarily for county commissioners\, counties are encouraged to register
  other key staff — such as emergency managers\, county managers\, public
  information officers\, attorneys\, or others involved in disaster respons
 e and recovery. Registration is limited to county officials and staff.\n\n
 Originally launched in 2021 as part of an NCACC Presidential Initiative le
 d by Frank Williams\, Brunswick County Commissioner\, 100 Counties Prepare
 d equips county leadership with practical\, decision-focused guidance for 
 leading before\, during\, and after emergencies. The new refreshed series 
 updates content to clarify the legal authorities during disasters\, operat
 ional best practices for counties and expands training offerings to better
  support today’s challenges.\n\nThis spring’s in-person sessions will 
 focus on Crisis Communications\, including countering misinformation and n
 avigating real-world disaster scenarios\, and will also include a high-lev
 el Emergency Management 101 overview tailored for county leadership.\n\nFe
 atured Speakers:\n\n 	Don Campbell\, Chief of Staff for North Carolina Eme
 rgency Management\, leads and supports agency operations and coordination 
 efforts. He previously served as director of Guilford County Emergency Man
 agement in Greensboro\, N.C.\, since 2009. Campbell has a diverse backgrou
 nd in emergency services training and response\, including hazardous mater
 ials incident management\, EMS response\, incident command\, project manag
 ement\, program management\, WebEOC administration\, and community emergen
 cy preparedness.\n 	Mark Weaver\, a nationally recognized crisis communica
 tions attorney and consultant with more than three decades of experience a
 dvising public- and private-sector leaders on crisis response\, misinforma
 tion\, and high-profile communications challenges.\n 	Norma Houston\, Disa
 ster Recovery Advisor\, NCACC a highly respected leader in public law and 
 emergency management with more than 30 years of public service. Houston is
  widely regarded as a trusted resource for local officials on emergency ma
 nagement authorities\, FEMA compliance\, and public procurement\, and prev
 iously served as a lecturer at the UNC School of Government and adjunct pr
 ofessor at the UNC School of Law.\n\nThe other trainings will be on April 
 9 in Wake County (State Emergency Operations Center) and May 14 in Buncomb
 e County (Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College).\nSchedule\n\n
