EMS Enhanced Federal Medicaid Reimbursement Program

The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners is responsible for administering a Medicaid Cost Reimbursement program for units of government that deliver EMS services. The program has specific criteria that must be met in order to participate in the reimbursement program. All units of government are eligible to participate upon meeting the criteria.

Units of government that deliver EMS services, or deliver those services through special arrangements with volunteers or private contractors, could be eligible to participate in the program.

The program reimbursed the participating units (76 units) in excess of $10 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2004. This year, the reimbursement will be even greater.
