Applications for NCACC RMP Bonner Scholarship due July 31

Winner will attend 2009 PRIMA training program in late October

The NCACC Risk Management Pools is accepting applications for the 2009 Frank Bonner Scholarship.

The scholarship is named in honor of Bonner, a dedicated long-serving commissioner from Beaufort County who was instrumental in establishing the Pools, and is awarded annually to an individual demonstrating great initiative and dedication to implementing risk management techniques in the workplace.

The recipient will attend the 2009 PRIMA Institute, the industry's premier risk management training program, in New Orleans from Oct. 26-29. For more information on the Institute, click here.

In order to be eligible, applicants must:

  • be employed by a county or county entity that participates in the NCACC Liability & Property Pool or the Workers' Compensation Pool; and
  • be primarily responsible for risk management and/or insurance administration for that county (or county entity).

Applicants must:

  • submit a written statement that answers the following questions: "Why should you attend PRIMA Institute? What value do you think this will bring the county?" The written statement should include the applicant's full name, job title, and length of time in current position; and
  • submit a letter of recommendation from their county manager (or executive director if an entity) that should include a statement affirming approval of the individual's time away to attend the conference.

The deadline for applications is July 31. Applications should be mailed to NCACC, Attn.: Donna Walker, Risk Services Coordinator, 215 N. Dawson St., Raleigh, NC 27603; faxed to (919) 719-1105; or e-mailed to donna.walker@ncacc.org.

The 2009 scholarship recipient will be announced Aug. 29 during the NCACC Annual Conference.

In 2008, Henderson County Risk Manager Yvonne Moebs received the scholarship.
