Henderson County’s Moebs awarded 2008 Frank Bonner Scholarship

Ann Holton, Pamlico County Commissioner and Chair of the NCACC Risk Management Pools Board of Trustees, has announced that the 2008 Frank Bonner Scholarship has been awarded to Henderson County Risk Manager Yvonne Moebs.

The $2,500 scholarship will fund Moebs’ attendance at the Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) Institute, an intensive program focused on public entity risk management, to be held Oct. 20-23 in San Antonio, Texas.

“I am really honored,” said Moebs, a three-year county veteran who credits much of her success in the county to providing appropriate planning and execution of strategic risk management initiatives. “I want to learn more and broaden my knowledge so that I can enhance our county’s risk management practices and implement the latest techniques for improving the health and safety of Henderson County employees and citizens.”

The scholarship is presented in honor of Frank Bonner, a longtime Beaufort County Commissioner who was instrumental in establishing the NCACC Risk Management Pools.

“Congratulations to Yvonne,” said Lester J. Nixon, NCACC Risk Management Director. “We were very pleased to receive so many deserving applications. Our Scholarship Committee had a difficult choice to make. We encourage all applicants to try again next year.”
