The Association conducts a number of surveys to gather financial and programmatic information from counties. NCACC conducts a tax rate survey every July to ascertain newly adopted tax rates and a budget and tax survey in the fall to collect more in-depth expenditure data including school appropriations.

Forms of county government is updated in conjunction with publication of the directory each January.

After commissioner elections in even-numbered years, county elections results are compiled. In addition, periodic ad hoc surveys gather information on specific topics on interest.
