Celebrate National County Government Month in April
Counties across North Carolina will be celebrating National
County Government Month in April. Since 1991, the
National Association of Counties (NACo) has encouraged counties across the
country to actively promote county government programs and services. Formerly
National County Government Week, the designation was expanded to a full month
for 2010 to offer more counties more opportunities to plan and participate.
During April, the NCACC will be announcing the winners of its
2010 Outstanding County Program Awards competition, as well as the winner of its
2010 County Government Essay Contest for 10th grade students.
Healthy Counties is the theme for this year's celebration. To
help counties with ideas on how to celebrate this month, NACo has created a 2010
National County Government Month Handbook.
This handbook contains ideas and tips on how your county can celebrate National
County Government Month.
