NCACC names legislative coordinator

The Association will welcome Kevin Leonard as its legislative coordinator on June 1. Leonard has been employed since April 2003 as senior government relations manager with Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC, where his clients include YMCAs of North Carolina, the N.C. Association of Hearing Care Professionals, the Elevator Industry Work Preservation Fund and the Urban Chambers of Commerce.

Leonard's résumé includes stints as director of governmental affairs for the N.C. Department of Labor, as chief of staff for a former House Republican leader, and as a legislative assistant for United States Rep. Howard Coble.

He served as president of the North Carolina Young Lobbyists Association in 2006. He has also served on the North Carolina Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights since 2001.

He holds a Master of Public Administration from American University in Washington, D.C., and a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a minor in theater arts from Catawba College in Rowan County. He is married to Amy Lynn Leonard, and the couple has two sons, Jackson (8) and Davis (5).
