Named in honor of Bonner, a dedicated, long-serving commissioner from Beaufort County who was instrumental in establishing the Pools, the scholarship is awarded annually to an individual demonstrating great initiative and dedication implementing risk management techniques in the workplace.
Pamlico County Chairman Ann Holton, who chairs the Board of Trustees for the Risk Management Pools, made the announcement during the Pools' awards breakfast on Aug. 20 at the 104th Annual Conference in Cabarrus County.
This year's award consists of full payment of registration and associated fees, hotel and all travel expenses for West to attend the CRM (Certified Risk Manager) course "Principals of Risk Management" offered in Baton Rouge, La., from Dec. 7-10.
Holton also recognized outstanding performances by member groups for 2010-11 for each of the three pools.
