Role of Steering Committees

The Association has seven advisory steering committees. The committees study current issues, either on their own or at the request of the Board of Directors, and make policy recommendations to the board. The steering committees also review proposed legislative goals before they become part of the Legislative Goals package. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please fill out our form and return it to the NCACC.

Committee Membership & Meetings

Committee membership is primarily made up of county commissioners, but is open to county employees with expertise in specific areas of interest. The steering committees are chaired by one of the Association’s vice presidents, the past president or an ex-officio board member appointed by the president. The committee typically meet two to four times a year — more often preceding a Legislative Goals Conference. Most meetings are held at the Association’s office in Raleigh, but some are held at other locations as needed or requested.
