Perdue's proposed Mobility Fund draws committee support (June 2010)
The NCACC Intergovernmental Relations Steering Committee during its May 18 meeting endorsed the creation of the NC Mobility Fund, which has been proposed by Governor Beverly Perdue to provide funding for very specific mobility projects across the state.
Sign of the times: counties will work for jobs (March 2010)
As the state's unemployment rate jumped to 11.2 percent by the end of 2009, the NCACC Intergovernmental Relations Steering Committee tackled the difficult subject of job creation during its Feb. 23 meeting in Raleigh. From broadband to business incentives to economic development boards, committee members discussed a number of different strategies that counties can consider to spur job creation and economic development.

Members of the NCACC Intergovernmental Relations Steering Committee expressed an over-arching sentiment that the current transportation funding structure was not satisfactory, could not be maintained and must change during their Nov. 30 meeting in Raleigh.

Mobile home bill gains NCACC committee’s support (Feb. 22, 2006)
Take a drive through any of North Carolina’s rural counties and chances are it won’t be long until you spot a derelict mobile home sitting in an overgrown lot. Most of these homes are uninhabitable and considered blight on the countryside. Rep. Phil Haire (Jackson County), who has sponsored legislation that would provide funds to help pay for the cleanup of abandoned mobile homes, addressed members of the NCACC Intergovernmental Relations Steering Committee on Feb. 22 to garner support for H1288.
