Friend of the Counties Award
The Friend of the Counties Award was created to encourage non-county persons and organizations to take significant actions that advance the interests of counties and the Association. Any person or organization in North Carolina or the Unites States who or which is not directly associated with North Carolina county government or the NCACC is eligible to receive the award.
A person or organization may be nominated by a county board of commissioners, an individual member of the Association’s Board of Directors, or a member of the Association staff. An application form must be completed for each nomination. The successful nominee shall have been instrumental in causing a significant advancement(s) of county or Association interest(s) during the year preceding the annual conference at which the award is presented. A recipient may receive the award only once.
Selection shall be made each year by the NCACC president after consultation with the NCACC officers. The president and staff will narrow the applications to three to five finalists, from which the officers will meet to discuss, with the president making the final choice.
The award shall be presented at the Association’s annual conference each year. An appropriate plaque and/or certificate shall commemorate the award.
