Rep. Pearl Burris-Floyd, who represents Cleveland and Gaston counties in the North Carolina House of Representatives, performed the inauguration ceremony for Commissioner Accor and the other elected county commissioners who will serve as NCACC officers in 2009-10.

As NCACC president, Accor will work closely with the other members of the NCACC Executive Committee to guide the NCACC Board of Directors on legislative and administrative issues affecting counties throughout the year.

She was appointed to the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners in 1995 and since has won three terms.

“Counties across the state are fortunate to have a leader and visionary of Commissioner Accor’s stature atop our Association for the next year,” said NCACC Executive Director David F. Thompson. “She is truly a wonderful person and a pleasure to work with.”

Accor has served as NCACC president elect since August 2008. She was elected second vice president in September 2006. She is the third president to hail from Cleveland County in the Association’s 101-year history and the first in more than 60 years.
