In conjunction with the School of Government at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, the NCACC sponsors the Essentials of County Government, an intensive two-day training seminar held throughout the state beginning in January after every election cycle. These sessions offer an all-encompassing overview of county government and the roles and responsibilities of county commissioners.
The sessions are geared for both veteran and newly elected county commissioners. Entire boards are encouraged to attend.
Each session includes the two hours of ethics training that all county commissioners, both new and returning, are required to complete within 12 months of their election. Essentials of County Government also fulfills the "Orientation" requirement for all LELA recognition levels.
Please see the schedule below for 2017 session dates and locations. Registration will be open soon through the School of Government. Click here for more information.
