Mental Health Engagement

NCACC Mental Health Engagement Task Force
About
At his installation as NCACC President at the 2014 Annual Conference, Macon County Commissioner Ronnie Beale spoke about the need for county commissioners to have a better understanding of the system of care for those in need of mental health, development disabilities, and substance abuse services in North Carolina. He specifically said commissioners need to use their role as community leaders to help their citizens understand the system better, and to help those in need navigate the complex service delivery network.

An NCACC Task Force, led by Stokes County Commissioner Leon Inman, studied these issues and delivered recommendations to the Board of Directors and Association members at the 108th Annual Conference in Pitt County in August 2015.

President Glen Webb has continued the initiative for 2015-16 and has charged the Association's Health and Human Services Steering Committee with building upon the work done by the Task Force.
