Emerging Issues Forum explores 'Gen Z'

County government attendees invited to attend special breakfast with Andrew Yang

Generation Z is the most highly connected, globally aware, and digitally savvy group in our history. While they may be named for the last letter of the alphabet, they represent the future of North Carolina. They are revolutionizing the workplace, the marketplace, and our communities.

Are we ready?

The 27th annual Emerging Issues Forum, scheduled for Feb. 6-7 at the Raleigh Convention Center, will explore Gen Z’s impact on our economic and workforce development, how increased connectivity raises the bar, and how we can ensure their – and North Carolina’s – overall well-being.

Access registration at www.ncsu.edu/iei/index.php/news-events/2011-emerging-issues-forum. There is a $275 rate for government, nonprofit and higher education attendees. Registration is open for a few more weeks.

By registering for the Forum, you are also invited to attend a County Government Breakfast with Andrew Yang on day two (Tuesday, Feb. 7) of the Emerging Issues Forum. The breakfast, which begins at 7 a.m., will be an opportunity to hear from the Founder and President of Venture for America, a nonprofit fellowship program that sends top college graduates to start-ups and early stage companies in Detroit, New Orleans, Providence, and other economically challenged U.S. cities in order to generate job growth.

The members of Gen Z – North Carolinians born between 1990 and 2002 – tend to be interested in starting their own business or working for a small business or entrepreneurial venture. Yang is in a unique position to discuss the importance of fostering a climate of entrepreneurship in counties that will attract young people.

Space is limited for both the Forum and breakfast. Once registered for the Forum you will get an email correspondence with additional breakfast details.
